Clearly, luxury brands have been getting a facelift this year. While the young Georgia May Jagger replaced Cara Delevingne for Mulberry Spring/ Summer 2015, other brands have instead turned to more experienced muses like Joan Didion for Céline, and Joni Mitchell for Saint Laurent. Now, another brand has taken on a fresh face for its latest handbag campaign as well.
Enter Kristen Stewart, the famous Twilight star. Love her or hate her, we must admit that she is smoking hot in Chanel’s new handbag campaign, ‘3 Girls, 3 Bags’.
Last year Stewart was the face of the Metiers d’arts collection – remember her cowgirl look – but this time the Parisian house had a different proposition for the actress. After her recent announcement to take a break from cinema, the young star was enlisted again by Karl Lagerfeld as the face for the house’s new handbag campaign, alongside French singer, Vanessa Paradis, and British model, Alice Dellal. Each girl was asked to choose which handbag best represented her, and Kristen chose the 11.12, while Vanessa and Alice each chose the Girl and Boy respectively. Said Kristen, “For me, the iconic handbag (the 11.12) is just like the house of Chanel, fundamental and modern, two qualities not usually shared.”
And we couldn’t agree more. Usually clad in laid-back converse sneakers and jeans, it comes as no surprise that the actress endorses the comfort of basics and fundamentality. Here, her white shirt is perked up with a black blazer lending the outfit a chic and modern touch.
Harking back to her first job with Chanel in 2013, the Boy bag has a special impact on Dellal, while Paradis bravely posed nearly nude with the Girl. “I like the fact that it blends in with clothes, or against the skin with infinite gentleness” the 42 year-old said of the cross body.
Simple and sublime yet vividly versatile, we can’t wait for these beauties to hit stores!
