With its official account LVLive on Snapchat, Louis Vuitton is now more connected with the world of social media. In a video that spans less than 4 minutes, you’re transported to a Parisian summer vacation in the sunshine land of Palm Springs, California. With bright sunshine, shady trees, beautiful nature, and a lightweight breeze, it is indeed a special retreat at Bob Hope’s resort estate (which is on sale at USD$25 million) for all the 550 notable guests.
These globetrotting runway shows are a refreshing new take for Louis Vuitton as artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière continues to work his magic. For California dreamin’, the French brand invited many celebrity faces such as Kanye West (nicknamed Yeezy in Snapchat), Selena Gomez, Miranda Kerr, Michelle Williams, Marisa Tomei, Catherine Deneuve, Tao Okamoto and Grimes who ended up in the DJ booth at the after-party.
Apart from the majestic space-age house, Ghesquière also upped the ante on the runway. Citing cult ’70s Altman’s classic 3 Women as inspiration, the David Bowie-inspired makeovers on the pre-runway models were flooding Instagram. Apart from makeup artist extraordinaire Pat McGrath’s work, these living art displays’ hairdo by Paul Hanlon were also the talk of the town.
As for the show itself, fresh and subtly sun-kissed faces delivered the electrifying folkish vibe clothing. Lengthening his first show’s A-line skirt trend, Nicolas brought the warrior princesses’ hem long enough for Game of Thrones‘s approval. Check out Fernanda Ly‘s spunky urban armour look! Bringing the texture to another enigmatic level, there was glossy embroidery works, laser-cut leathers, patches of sequins and studs on the asymmetrical necklines. Watch out as sailors’ collars and bell sleeves are making their comeback this season.
