The 4th of May wasn’t just a geeky day for Star Wars fans; it was also the day Karl Lagerfeld unveiled Chanel’s 2016 Cruise collection in Seoul, South Korea. Held in Dongdaemun Design Plaza, the show was impossibly bright and cheery, reminiscent of a giant Twister board. The collection played on Korean elements and culture such as the traditional hanbok, where it was paired with playful, almost cartoon-y plaited wigs. In the land of kimchi and relentlessly upbeat tunes, how can we dispense with the ubiquitous K-pop stars?
Famous K-pop stars such as Im Yoona (Girls’ Generation), Choi Siwon (Super Junior), G Dragon (BIGBANG) as well as actors like Park Shin Hye and Lee Jongsuk attended the show. Of course, being a friend of Karl Lagerfeld, how can CL (2NE1) not attend too?
In addition to these Korean stars, international A-listers such as Gisele Bunchen, Tilda Swinton, and Kristen Stewart made an appearance. Who said missing the Met Gala was a big deal? Certainly the show was worth it.
