A pair of sunnies and a stylish hat are essentials in sunny Singapore, whether we are shopping up a storm along Orchard Road or sunbathing at a sandy beach at a nearby islands.
With stylish headwear trending on runways lately, hats have again become a fashion staple. Before you start packing for your vacation, make sure that you’ve got the right fitting hat.
Rather than just jamming any hat onto your head, the first thing you need to do is to take into consideration the structure of your face. Skin color is also crucial. Olive complexions with darker hair suit stronger-coloured hats such as canary yellows, ruby reds and racing greens. Those with fairer complexions suit softer pastels and more neutrals.
Also, do make sure that you try on the hat in front of a long mirror. You must take into account of your height, size and overall proportion. That will be exceptionally crucial especially if you’re planning on getting a huge headpiece. If possible, bring along the outfit that you plan to wear with the hat when you’re out hat hunting – this will minimise any fashion faux-pas in terms of matching colours and styles.
Whoever said that hats are only for bad hair days? For this coming summer, we’ve sussed out local-based bespoke hat milliners and a wide range of high street styles – find your favourite in our ten hat selections.
