Following the buzz of fresh faces making waves in the world of fashion, French contemporary womenswear brand, Carven welcomed two geniuses with open arms. Ever since its previous director of five years, Guillaume Henry bowed out of the house in October last year to join Nina Ricci, the fashion world has been rife with rumours of who will fill that place and be at the helm of the leading label. Well, now we know those names – Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud are the two newly appointed artistic directors of the house.
While it is not common for a house to have two creative directors, Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud are a beautiful match in terms of talent. They first crossed paths when studying at Atelier Chardon Savard fashion school in Paris, and again overlapped at Givenchy when Martial was working in womenswear and Caillaudaud in accessories.
When asked why two artistic directors were appointed instead of one, Carven CEO Henri Sebaoun said, “When I first met with Alexis and Adrien and we shared our vision of women, fashion and Carven, I immediately knew they were the perfect match for Carven.” Hence the house’s decision of roping both talents in. Talk about killing two birds with one stone.
Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud added, “We are thrilled to be joining this highly creative Parisian design house. Carven is a brand that conveys a beautiful sense of femininity and freshness that we look forward to continuing into the next era. We are excited to be working with Henri Sebaoun and the incredibly creative and talented teams at Carven.”
As the designer duo ease their way into the womenswear brand, Guillaume Henry will show his debut collection for Nina Ricci this week, in line with Paris Fashion Week. With two geniuses taking over the sublime womenswear brand, and the young creative designer moving onto the 83 year-old label, we definitely foresee exciting times ahead!
