She has been awarded the Style Icon Award by the CFDA this year – where she was wearing a fully transparent dress – but now it’s official: Rihanna is pursuing a career in Fashion. The singer has just has been named creative director of Puma and will oversee the sportswear brand’s women’s line.
After their collaboration with Solange Knowles – another singer – this year, Puma went after Rihanna.
The singer flew to Puma’s German headquarters on Monday for her first creative session where she discussed with the design team. Rihanna “will work with Puma to design and customize classic Puma styles as well as create new styles to add to the Puma product portfolio,” the company said on Tuesday to WWD. So the singer will become creative director, but not only: she will also become the face of the brand and join Usain Bolt and Mario Balotelli as ambassador of the brand.
Puma is owned by luxury group Kering and Badgalriri already modeled for Gucci, another brand of the group.
And to make the announcement, the singer didn’t pick LinkedIn but Instagram, where @Badgalriri shared the news with her 14 million followers.
We can’t wait for next season to see what the singer has prepared for our sporty looks!
