American retailer J.Crew is collaborating with a rather special designer to help create the next Spring/ Summer 2015 collection. Meet Mayhem, the 4 year-old instagrammer!
We already noticed her on her blog www.fashionbymayhem.com where she shares her adorable ‘fashion’ creations… but it seems like we were not the only ones. For J. Crew’s upcoming SS15 campaign, the brand roped in the mini-it girl as their star stylist for an exclusive collaboration.
“For summer 2015, we asked Mayhem to design an exclusive capsule collection for crewcuts using her arts-and-crafts know-how, then we had our designers turn her paper creations into the real thing. Seriously, kids these days…” wrote the super stylish Jenna Lyons, director of the brand.
How could a 4 year-old possibly design a collection? Jenny Cooper, head of design, declared, “When we met with Mayhem for the first time we were really curious to see how she would work and were amazed to watch this barely 4 year-old girl start meticulously folding the pleats on a skirt and placing stones very specifically and carefully on a top she had just fashioned around herself. She has such an inventive and creative personality that really resonated with us. It was great to have a truly creative child be at the heart of the design process.”
On the Instagram account of the American brand (which settled in Hong Kong last june and now delivers internationally), the little girl is seen hard at work, adjusting clothes on a mini-model. Really promising!
