It’s one of the most awaited show for the next fashion week. The disgraced designer will make his comeback on 12 January with a debut couture collection for the Belgian fashion house, Maison Martin Margiela.
This show will mark another first, as the luxury house has always presented its collections in Paris but for the next Men’s Fashion Week, the show will be held in London.
The location was Galliano’s decision and echoes his early career – after studying at Central St Martins, he first worked with British designer Tommy Nutter. By holding it in London, the show also pays tribute to the British expertise and tailoring refinement. The event promises to be an intimate affair as it will see only 100 journalists and friends of the designer.
And although we’ll have to wait a few weeks before witnessing the designer’s first creations for Maison Martin Margiela, we managed to catch an early glimpse of his work at the British Fashion Awards ceremony. John Galliano took this opportunity to design a black dress with white flowers for his longtime friend, Anna Wintour, on which we could easily recognise the designer’s very feminine touch. Now, that’s a pretty powerful comeback.
