When the Queen of Prints meets a sportswear giant, it’s a formula for success. After a successful first collection that generated lots of buzz, Mary Katrantzou and Adidas are joining forces once again to create an inspiring ’80s-themed wardrobe. It’s art, pop-ish, colourful, ultra-trendy, and unabashedly retro.
At first glance, the colourful prints seem to be made up of neo-futuristic graphics and mystical gods of Olympus. Upon closer examination, however, it turns out that they are in fact collages made up of different sports accessories, such as a stopwatch, a tennis racket, and a shuttlecock. It’s a perfect ode to Adidas and Mary Katrantzou.
Structured T-shirts embellished with silicone badges, mirrors, and kaleidoscopes; each detail is carefully considered in this collection. There’s a good fusion of both luxury and mainstream when it comes to the choice of material, cut, and colour. Our favourite piece? An American varsity jacket that’s reversible and goes so well with a skater skirt and monochrome sneakers.
The collection will be available from mid July at No42, Bon Marché and http://www.adidas.fr/ . We can’t wait!
