If you think that you’ve already had enough of babies making debut entrances this fashion week, well, there’s more. For Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2015 collection, the designers took the baby mania to a whole new level.

Yesterday, they unveiled Viva la Mamma, a mother-daughter combination collection where models paraded down the runway carrying (and donning on) their most beautiful and prized possessions.

In an industry where figure is key, the Italian designer duo expertly peeled away the stereotype that motherhood brings, choosing to merge the two worlds of sexy-strong and soft-nurturing in their gorgeous collection. Enshrined in the early 60’s shape, models were clad in lingerie-inspired lace dresses. Dolce &Gabbana’s classic elbow-length sleeves and knee-length pencil skirts highlighted the sublime feminine silhouette.

While one can imagine and cringe at the scrawlings – oft-likened to chicken scratches that children often make on walls and furniture (oh, the terror!) – the designers have in fact taken these scribbles and transformed them into beautiful and heartfelt designs. Phrases like ‘Ti amo Mama’ (which means ‘I love you, Mama’ in Italian) accompanied the recurring motif of the embroidered red rose. Think Angelina Jolie’s artfully-designed wedding dress, only on your iconic Dolce &Gabbana pencil skirts, suits and slim cut dresses. The crowd cheered as 6-months pregnant model, Bianca Balti shone in her blush coloured shift dress, strutting down the runway to ‘Mama’ by Spice Girls.

And with our many celebrities expecting little bundles of joy soon, we can’t wait to see them decked in this exquisite bump-friendly collection!
